Yes! MOCA is serving adult-use (recreational) cannabis sales for 21+ customers.
When are you open for recreational cannabis sales?
During the transition, supply will not be reliable enough to set our permanent hours just yet. Please be sure to check out our homepage announcements (just under the pictures) for hours and details regarding medical and recreational sales dates, which will fluctuate as supply is available for recreational sales.
Due to a number of factors related to supply availability and more, we will be experiencing scheduling irregularities in the first few weeks of recreational legalization. Some days we may need to open later and others close early due to supply availability and other factors. We expect this to ease up over the coming weeks as more supply becomes available to us for both medical and adult-use demands.
We will be open more days for medical due to our ongoing dedication to patient needs during this time of transition and available supplies. Get a medical card.
What products do you have in stock for recreational sale?
CLICK HERE FOR CURRENT REC MENU :::: Please check the menu for the most recent stock updates! Note: no stock is promised as it depends on lines/demand which are extremely high. Some products sell out within moments and never make it to the menu (we are doing our best though). Our medical menu is way bigger and you can order online. Get a medical card. Can anyone just roll up in 2020 for Recreational Sales? Anything I need to do?
Now, anyone 21+ can show up and buy recreational cannabis! Just bring an ID and some patience, understanding and good vibes. This is a big change happening all at once and we are going to do our best to make it run smoothly.
Should we enter on Milwaukee or Fullerton?
Recreational customers may ONLY enter through the 2369 N Milwaukee Ave entrance. Medical patients may enter through either the 2847 W Fullerton or 2369 N Milwaukee entrance, but we recommend medical patients enter through the Fullerton entrance for faster service and shorter lines.
Will you be cash-only?
We are cash-only as cannabis. We do have ATMs onsite.
Will there be long waits?
Probably at first. But MOCA’s waiting room space gives you a warm, dry, waiting area so no one will get stuck standing in the cold. We will do our best to move the lines quickly, and you will also be able to register for a medical card there. Waits will be shorter for medical patients. GET YOUR MEDICAL CARD!
Will there be supply shortages or limits to orders?
Probably at first. All states typically experience supply shortages when recreational cannabis starts. It is still to be seen how supply and demand will play out but we do expect shortages from IL based cultivators. But yes, we expect supply to be limited or very limited on certain items. We may impose max order limits or just plain run out of product categories for recreational customers. Flower and concentrates are expected to be in the shortest supply. Edible candies and vape cartridges are expected to be in more full supply. We are legally obligated to prioritize medical customers over recreational customers, so expect a larger menu for medical than recreational. We recommend everyone GET A MEDICAL CARD for this reason. Please don’t be mean to us about supply issues. We assure you we aren’t “hoarding” product or anything like that. Creating an entirely new high-demand market overnight is not easy. We understand frustrations here. We expect product to be in more full supply by March. We are doing our absolute best to accommodate everyone for recreational while maintaining our medical supply.
What will it cost?
Prices will vary and be impacted by taxes and supply issues. We will do our best to make everything as affordable as we can but we are an independent company and subject to the wholesale pricing of our suppliers. Please don’t say mean things to us if you think the prices are too high. We understand everyone has financial pressure and this is a brand new market coming online in a very short timeframe. It will be MUCH cheaper for medical patients. GET YOUR MEDICAL CARD!
How much can I purchase?
IL Residents: 30g Flower // 5g concentrates // 500mg THC for edibles and infused products
Out of State and International: 15g Flower // 2.5g concentrates // 250mg THC for edibles and infused products
Medical Patients: 2.5ounces (70g)
Can I consume cannabis at the dispensary?
No one may consume cannabis at or around the dispensary.
Can I consume cannabis outside or in other public places?
No, recreational cannabis may only be consumed in private residences.
Will there be a veterans discount for recreational?
There will not be product discounts for recreational cannabis at first. We recommend people get a medical card.
As a patient, is anything changing?
Some other changes include:
– The Fullerton entrance will be medical only and the waiting area near Fullerton will be for medical only.
– We expect a much smaller menu of products available. Existing patients are aware that product availability has been diminished in the past year and we expect it to get worse before it gets better unfortunately. We have very little control over this and are doing our best to ensure there is as much supply and selection as possible.
What About Dispensary Transfers for Patients? Will they still take 24 hours?
How does the line work?
We have a brand new super cool waiting room on our Milwaukee Ave side (2367 N Milwaukee) open everyday – so you don’t have to wait in the cold. You get a number when you enter and then watch a screen for your number to be admitted into the dispensary.
Can we order online?
Medical patients will be able to order online as usual. Recreational customers will not be able to order online until we are able to assess product inventory availability and get our process down. We hope to have online ordering for recreational customers available soon. Get your medical card!
How is MOCA keeping customers and patients safe at this time?
With a new market with low supply and high demand, we have enhanced security in place — that means more guards, metal detectors, and more. NO WEAPONS ARE ALLOWED inside of MOCA and you will be turned away if you are carrying anything we believe could hurt our staff or other customers/patients (guns, knives, tasers, pepper spray, etc). If you want to ensure you will get inside, please do not bring any weapons with you.
Will MOCA be selling seeds, plants, clones, etc. for home growing and teaching medical patients how to grow?
No, unfortunately we will not be selling any seeds or growing supplies (we will update if this changes). Home growing will be legal for patients only (it is not legal for recreational users), but no IL cultivators are selling us any seeds at this time, and we do not yet know where they will be available for purchase. We will make sure to alert all of our patients via email (sign up for emails here or below) when we know more.
Can I get my medical card with an out of state ID?
Yes, but you must provide 2 proofs of residency in Illinois. Here is a list from IDPH. An Illinois card will get you access in states that honor reciprocity.
I’m visiting from out of state, can I still buy recreational cannabis?
Yes, but the limit is 15g per purchase for out of state residents (vs 30g for Illinois residents). The same is true for international visitors.
How does this affect FOID card holders?
There is no reason that purchasing recreational cannabis would have ay effect on FOID card eligibility because we do not track any personal information. However, we aren’t in a position to give legal advice on this matter. FOID cards are federally issued and held to federal law, and cannabis is still illegal under federal law. We can sell to anyone 21+ with an ID and we do not track the personal information of those who make recreational purchases.
Can this affect my employment, insurance, or is having a medical card a problem for employment in states where it is not legal?
This is well outside of our control but the short answer is yes it can. State legalization is not federal legalization, and employers who require drug testing may not care about IL state law. You should check with the employer or other entity to make sure you are ok to use cannabis without affecting these areas.
Does ___ qualify as a qualifying condition for medical?
Why is it better to be medical than recreational?
– Cheaper! There will be big taxes charged on recreational cannabis, medical is taxed at a lower rate.
– Faster! We will have a dedicated entrance and checkout counter for medical, which means shorter lines.
– Variety! There will be more products and supply available to medical patients. The state has mandated that we serve medical patients before recreational.
– Online Ordering! Only medical patients will be able to order online initially.
– Veteran’s Discount for those who qualify.
– Loyalty Program! Medical patients can gain points for purchases, making them eligible for bonuses.
– Grow! Medical patients will be eligible to grow up to 5 plants (rec customers are not eligible for home grow).
– Get More! The legal limit of possession is higher for patients than rec.
